Dental & oral surgery
Dental surgery, done right.
Healthy teeth and gums are vital for your pet's overall health and happiness. At Simon Veterinary Surgical, we specialize in small-animal dental care for dogs and cats — full oral assessments, extractions, and advanced periodontal work under monitored anesthesia.
What dental surgery covers
More than "just a cleaning."
A proper veterinary dental surgery includes pre-anesthetic bloodwork, a full oral exam, dental x-rays of every tooth, scaling and polishing, periodontal probing, extractions when indicated, and oral surgery repair if needed.
Without dental x-rays, half the disease is invisible. Roots, alveolar bone, and resorptive lesions only show up on imaging — we include x-rays in every dental package as standard.
Why surgical-grade matters
Anesthesia, monitored.
Every dental procedure happens under modern, monitored anesthesia with the same standard of care we apply to orthopedic surgery. Continuous monitoring of heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and temperature throughout the procedure.
Pain control is multi-modal: local nerve blocks for the affected quadrants, systemic analgesics, and take-home pain medication tailored to the procedure performed.
Common questions
Quick answers.
Is anesthesia safe for older pets?
We routinely perform dental procedures on senior patients. Pre-anesthetic bloodwork screens for conditions that would change our protocol; we tailor the anesthesia plan to each patient's age, weight, and health status.
How often should my dog or cat have a dental procedure?
Most pets benefit from a professional dental every 1–2 years, though small breeds and brachycephalic breeds often need them more frequently. Your primary vet can guide cadence; we handle the procedure when it's time.
What's included in the flat-rate dental package?
Pre-anesthetic exam, bloodwork, full-mouth dental x-rays, scaling and polishing, anesthesia and monitoring, extractions if needed, nerve blocks, take-home pain medication, and a recheck visit.
