Soft tissue surgery covers everything that isn't bone. Abdominal exploratories, mass removals, hernias, urogenital procedures, facial repairs, and cholecystectomy. We handle each one with the same flat-rate package as our orthopedic cases — anesthesia, pain control, recheck, and rehab all included.
Procedures we perform
A wide range, one focused surgeon.
Abdominal: splenectomy, exploratory laparotomy, GI foreign-body removal, intestinal resection, liver lobectomy, cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal), and mass removal with tissue submission.
Urogenital: cystotomy for bladder stones, urethrostomy, ovariohysterectomy (spay) and complex spay revisions, neuter, perineal hernia repair, prostatic cyst drainage.
Hernia: umbilical, inguinal, diaphragmatic. Facial: oral and palate repairs, eyelid procedures, ear procedures.
If you have an unusual case, ask. Dr. Simon and Dr. Sherman have between them seen most procedures and are willing to consult on complex referrals.
Same-day discharge
Most patients go home that night.
Soft tissue cases typically discharge the same day, with detailed instructions, take-home pain management, and direct text access to our team through the first 72 hours of recovery.
A free recheck visit is included in the flat-rate package, plus a cold-laser session over the incision to reduce swelling and accelerate healing.

My dog swallowed something — is that an emergency for you?
Often yes. GI foreign-body removal is a procedure we perform regularly. Call us immediately and we'll triage; if a same-day surgery slot is available, we'll prioritize it.
Do you remove tumors and lumps?
Yes — mass removal with biopsy is one of our most common soft-tissue procedures. We send every removed mass to pathology and forward results directly to you and your primary vet.
Will my dog need a cone?
Usually for 7–14 days. We can send home alternatives like recovery suits for many soft-tissue cases — ask us at the discharge appointment what works best for your patient.
