What it is
Targeted, not systemic.
Synovetin OA is a single-injection treatment that targets the inflamed cells in your dog's arthritic elbow joint. Unlike NSAIDs that circulate through the whole body (and can stress the liver, kidneys, or gut over time), Synovetin works only at the injection site.
The injection contains tin-117m, a radioisotope with a short range and very precise effect. It deactivates the inflammatory cells (macrophages) lining the joint capsule — the cells that drive arthritis pain. Once those cells are quiet, the joint isn't producing inflammatory signals anymore, and the pain decreases.
How we use it
In-office, one visit.
The treatment is delivered as a single in-office injection under brief sedation. Most dogs go home the same day with no significant restrictions.
Best candidates: dogs with confirmed elbow osteoarthritis (we'll review imaging or take new x-rays as part of the consultation), particularly those that don't tolerate daily NSAIDs well or whose owners are looking for a less-systemic option.

How long does one injection last?
Up to 12 months for most patients. Some dogs benefit from a repeat injection after the first year; others get longer relief than that. We monitor and recommend based on what you're seeing at home.
Is it safe?
Yes. The radioisotope has a short half-life and very precise local effect — there's no whole-body radiation exposure. We follow standard handling protocols for the injection itself.
Does my dog still need other arthritis support?
Often Synovetin reduces or eliminates the need for daily NSAIDs, but ongoing joint support — supplements, weight management, low-impact exercise, rehab — still helps overall outcomes.
